I have an old sky box and have read articles suggesting free upgrades to newer sky Q boxes are available to customers in similar situations. However, I'm unable to find out what model of sky box I have and how to know if my box qualifies for the free upgrade.
Thanks.

It is a sky+ hd box so I assume so. I also have been a customer for over 20 years and have seen people saying they have had free upgrades due to loyalty and being a diamond/platinum member.

Sky will, no doubt wish to encourage you to switch to Sky Q. I would suggest doing some research to make sure you know exactly what you're after, and then give Sky a call, saying along the lines that you're keen to upgrade to Sky Q but don't want to pay any more than you're currently paying, and see where it goes from there.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreThe free 'free' offer is to move users off SD-only hardware now that the BBC is ceasing SD broadcast.
There have always been 'free' offers to move from Sky+ HD to Q (I used one in 2016) but note that to Sky 'free' means no up front cost rather than no increase in monthly subscription: they will always attempt to upsell.

Thanks for the reply! Any idea how much the monthly payment is likely to increase if I upgrade to sky Q and if it is even a possibility to get it free of charge considering the length of time I've been with sky?
Thanks.

Length of time served really isn't a factor: rather the opposite in fact because typically new subscribers get better deals.
Historically Sky has either charged up front for the switch, or made that 'free' in return for a higher subscription cost.
A starting point would be to call them and insist on no fee and no increase per month, but they don't have to offer that if they don't want to.
Beware of the 'VIP Upgrade' which has no fee but includes a mandatory Q Mini box and so adds the Multiscreen subscription supplement.

Any idea how much it's likely to cost to upgrade to sky Q? Cheers.

Find out moreIn the past the up front cost was set stupidly high (hundreds of pounds) specifically in order to upsell the subscription bundle: for example £299 which magically became£49 if a Cinema subscription was added on an 18 month minimum term. I've no idea what current pricing is: realistically it's all negotiable.

What number do you suggest calling? I can't seem to find a number online and if I do it says it's exclusively available to sky mobile customers only. Thanks.
