@Mark8567

Yes as you will continue to receive the free channels. You will be unable to record and pause etc.

Was the dish used for Sky Q as the LNB on the dish will not be compatible with Sky+ and you will get No Satellite Signal

That's your issue, you'll need the dishes LNB to either be downgraded to a Sky+ LNB or upgraded to a Hybrid LNB (This allows Sky Q & Sky+ boxes on the same dish)

With no Sky subscription you will need a 3rd party satellite installer or you could do it yourself if you know what you are doing 🙂

Yes, a Freesat 4k (UHD) box is compatible with a Sky Q LNB, but they're more expensive.

Re: Sky+had box

Can you buy Freeview boxes that don't require an aerial , ie , WiFi or ehernet connectivity ?

Freesat boxes require a dish, Freeview boxes require an aerial

I'm not sure if an Internet connection is mandatory but I would guess not

Freeview Play is the online variant.  Almost all Freeview hardware would want an aerial feed though.

No. Freeview boxes use a terrestrial tv signal which is broadcast from a local. TV transmitter.

Freesat boxes use a satellite signal broadcast from a satellite (actually several satellites) in space orbit around the earth.

There are streaming services available which require only a broadband connection, such as N.ow TV, but you have to pay a monthly subscription.
