Re: SKY+ HD DOWNLOADS
You have my sympathy, I've been in contact with Sky too and am still waiting for help. Don't be tempted to start adjusting things as I did, based on recommendations yesterday - they made the problem worse for me, though they seemed to help some folk. I'm grateful for any help whatsoever and have resorted to posting a message on my local Facebook forum.

Re: Sky catchup unusable
I have just spoken to someone on the Sky Q forum who has the same issue but they are with 3 not TalkTalk so that is interesting.

Re: Sky catchup unusable
I've a feeling the Sky+HD box owners (like me) are having the most trouble.

Re: Sky catchup unusable
Hi @Patski there seem to be several more people with Sky Q reporting the same issue this morning, it may be that people are only now becoming aware of the issue so worth keeping an eye on both Sky Q and Sky + responses to see what happens.

Sky are aware as we informed them directly yesterday and they have confirmed that it looks like a TT DNS issue

Re: Sky catchup unusable
i just found an old thread which noted similar problems and claimed that the problem was down to one of the content delivery networks that Sky uses blocking access from certain IP address ranges. If you have a certain amount of technical knowledge about DNS, load balancers and CDNs then it is very illuminating: https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky-Q/Download-Failed-Remote-Network-Problem/td-p/4480846
in short, the thread states that trying to download programs which contain adverts can result in failed downloads if your download happens to be directed to a CDN from which to fetch the adverts and which is blocking your IP address. Using a different DNS server changes the likelihood of your request being directed to a CDN which is not blocking your address. https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky-Q/Download-Failed-Remote-Network-Problem/td-p/4480846
blocking can happen for many reasons such as misconfiguration or bad actors on certain IP addresses resulting in blocks that also take out other legitimate accesses in a kind of collateral damage.
If the problem we have seen yesterday is caused by the same issue then downloading content without adverts should work reliably. Or maybe even the main program and not adverts is attempted to be downloaded from a blocking CDN. Again, *if* that is the underlying problem, then TalkTalk are not at fault, it's just that their DNS servers were sending traffic to a CDN that is (now?) blocking them.

Re: SKY+ HD DOWNLOADS
Is that something we can fix ourselves? I am not technically minded so would appreciate a very slow explanation lol

Any Problems With Sky Catch Up?
My Sky+HD download function has stopped working. Is there a general problem or is it my box?
I've reset my box and also reset my router but that hasn't made a difference. My TV says that I have a good network connection...

Re: Any Problems With Sky Catch Up?
I have moved your post into the Sky+ thread discussing this. There's also a similar thread on the Sky Q board. Sky are aware of these issues.
Please see the post currently marked as the answer.
NOTE: I only provide help on the forum boards so Direct Messaging is switched off

Re: Sky catchup unusable
Before I try changing the network settings, will I have to do anything on the mini box or just the main one? Thanks
