Sky catchup unusable

Is anyone else getting Sky HD + boxes catchup function problem.

My 2 boxes have been fine for years odd reboot now and then but nothing like this.

it takes ages to launch any station e.g BBC, says 'service loading' then trickles in all the titles (no picture  icon). You then hit record on remote it accepts it but no red light on box, then sits at downloading but doesn't do anything

I have checked both boxes identical issue

Soni reset box , soft rebooted router, changed to 5Ghz, no impact, then did a forced software update , same nothing, hard reboot of router , same, then finally a planner rebuild , nothing its unusable.

All other devices fine , iPad, iMac , iPhones, fire stick and streaming apps in 1080p, 2 other tvs built in streaming fine, Echos ok, no issues  at ISP.

Im end of exchange ADSL max speed 12mbps getting 11.75 mbps

this is after last weeks live pause and record debacle.

Getting sick of this service as pay a fortune just for TV, been customer 24 years 37 years in ICT so I am electronic savvy

I think time to look elsewhere

Are you all using TTs DNS servers? if so try changing to 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 (Cloudflare), this can be done in the network setting on the Sky+ box if you cannot do it on your router

Re: Sky catchup unusable

I am having the same problem with my Sky HD+ box. When I start a download from the box's search menu or via tha Sky Go app the program appears in my planner saying 'download started' but never progresses any further. Eventually it gives up claiming I have no broadband connection. I definitely do have a broadband connection. I was happily downloading things yesterday (22nd September 2025).

When browsing through the Catchup menu I see it very slow to load lists of programs and, like you, am not getting icons. As a software developer I would suspect their CDN (Content Delivery System) is having problems. But I can stream and download to my iPad from the sky go app. I would expect that to access the same system.

Thanks for your reply I'm a retired Technical Solutions Architect, previous a Systems engineer and it seems to be getting more common with faults on HD boxes, same as you can download on Sky Go, but like last weeks live pause and rewind issue ....radio silence

@Jaskate The live pause issue was fixed by Sky after it was brought to their attention via the Community. There was a thread on the Sky Q forum acknowledging the problem, Sky Q being the current satellite seervice: https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky-Q/Pause-rewind-issue-16-09-25/m-p/5094646#M713031

The two posts here are the only ones I've seen recently about download issues on Sky+HD boxes. That may increase, of course, but at the moment it looks like a local issue, rather than a problem at Sky's end.

Local to your home, rather than your location.

Re: Sky catchup unusable

Local to both our homes? In different countries in the U.K.

I also see very slow populating of items in the Catchup TV, Sky Cinema, Sky Store, Kids and  Sky box sets sections of the Sky HD+ menu. Interestingly, the Sports section is able to load some images, but not all.

This definitely feels like a backend network issue accessing images and programs. But the Sky Go app on my iPad (through the same broadband connection out of my home) is able to browse catch up and stream/download successfully. I doubt it's a factor, but my broadband is with TalkTalk.

I can replicate this issue @Mark39 so it is looking like a Sky issue

Had a quick check and navigating the Catch Up channels seems normal here the picture for each programme are populated at a reasonable speed

Internet via BT/EE and connected via Etherent with 73Mb download speed

Re: Sky catchup unusable

Having exactly the same problem Geoff, starting today 23/9/25!  Says Downloading but it's not actually recording.  No icons either.

The box is still recording live/upcoming programmes without a problem (so far).  Have tried unplugging everything and went into Settings - all looks fine there.  Is there anything to be done? Not keen to get another box as I'll lose recordings made by my late husband.
