Sky+ box won't record or show schedule

Hi, I replaced my sky+ box and it won't  record but will only download with adverts. And it will not show the week's schedule or programme information. If you try to record a programme it stops the signal. The old box was having problems recording too but wasn't as bad as this new one. Any thoughts or  advice would be very welcome. Thank you
