Our SKY+HD BOX is not working. We have had the box for 11 years , should we just buy another box?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@rams01 If it is "completely broken" then your options are to buy a used Sky+HD box from the likes of e bay (make sure to get a DRX890 or DRX895 model) or contact Sky to arrange a switch to Sky Q.

Hi, Thanks for reply. We will try the box again later if it is still not working think we will just go to a local shop and buy a new one.
Dont fancy the idea of trying to contact Sky. Do you have to pay extra for Sky Q.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreYou won't be able to buy a new Sky+ box, I'm afraid. They were last manufactured in 2015. You could buy a used one, either a DRX890 or DRX895 from ebay for around £30.
Your viewing package should cost the same with Sky Q, or less if you're currently out of contract and you sign up to a fresh one. There might be a cost to upgrade, but be ready to negotiate!

Hi , if we do upgrade to sky Q can we get a sky engineer to come and set it up.

Yes, as a matter of course it will be installed by an engineer. They'll check your dish and cables at the same time and replace anything that isn't fully serviceable. Do be sure to check out the differences between Sky+ and Sky Q beforehand so that you know what to expect!

hi @rams01
that is a very broad question but as @Mark39 says I have compiled some notes which explain some key differences and factors to take into account for people looking to switch from SKY +/HD to SKY Q
It is a little long but it does cover many points - some may be relevant to you, others not so.
If, after reading, you have any specific queries please do not hesitate to ask here and ,hopefully, we can answer

hi, thanks for that. From what i have read I dont think we need Sky Q as we have only the 1 TV.
I will try to ring Sky tomorrow

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreSky Q will work just fine with only one TV. You won't need, and don't have to have a Mini box for use in a second room.
