If this is for Sky+ (where you've posted) the quickest solution is purchasing a new remote from a larger supermarket or Argos for example.

Does the red light on the remote still light up when pressing the volume button?

Try taking the remote apart and cleaning the internals (Instructions are found in my Sky Plkus FAQ) 🙂

Hello, I purchased a new Sky+ Remote from Argos. I tried to put in different option codes for my Hitachi TV. Today I called Sky customer services and was told that that they no longer give out codes or support to get the new remote volume to work at all. (This is a sneaky move in my opionion force you to move to Q)

The old reason people do not want to move to Q is because you lose all your recorded programmes. Its unbelievale that in todays hitec world a company like Sky has not invented away to get your saved from programmes from your old box to a new.

Fortuantely we have our old remote who's play function button was playing up. So for now we will have to use 2 remotes.

Any body else know a work around.?

@WifiHelpPlease you can use the remote to search for a suitable code, but beware it's a long winded process as it means going through every code on the chip in the remote until you find one that works.

Thanks for the link page. I tried it but it doesn't work. I have a code of 0145 for Hitachi TV's which I got off the net. Nne of the tips I have tried has made the input code box or any other thing come up. I tired to input the code after the last step. 

I am afraid its as the Sky customer services guy said they don't provide a code anymore for + customers. However they did credit me with the cost of the new handset I purchased from Argos.

This whole thing is a bit of a mean thing from Sky there is no reason why they couldn't keep the code going for Sky + + customers.

Not sure what you mean. If you're expecting an input box of some sort to appear on your tv screen, that's not and never has been how you programme a Sky+ remote.

If I remember correctly, this is how to programme your remote:

1. Press the TV button on the remote, then hold down the Select and Red buttons simultaneously until the red LED at the top flashes twice

2. Press the TV button again and enter the 4-digit code for your TV .The LED should flash twice to confirm the code is accepted.

3. Press Select to store the setting.

To test that you've entered the right code for your TV, press the remote's TV button, then the power button and your TV should turn off.

Thanks All . I did try that way. but didn't work becuase the code I had for TV didn't work. Fortuanely a SKY Engineer came to day and put in a different code and now its all sorted.

I will delete this post tomorrow or can a moderator show it as solved.
