Recorded programmes won't play

Sky + be.  Live programmes play normally but when I try to play a recorded programme I get a message asking me to stop insert the viewing card. I've had this issue before and read a piece that used a simple trick to rectify this but I've forgotten the details. I recall it involved pressing a couple of buttons on the remote one of which was back up. Any help would be appreciated
