Probably Rocking HD Boxes,Once Again

Morning,

Will be ringing Sky in around a fortnights time,as we are going out of contract with our current subscription. And on the back of these three things,we've decide to stick with our HD boxes.

1. If it aint broke, then why fix it  <--- our boxes just WORK

2. My mums battle with macular degeneration. With her vision issues, she just knows where everything is etc, with the Sky EPG.

3. Others members comments and advice,on this forum.

"BUT IF one of our Sky HD boxes goes down throughout the next 18 months of our new contract, will Sky be forcing us to over to Sky Q.

As ever,thanks in advance.

Jon.

Should that happen you can purchase one privately yourself if it the box at fault and continue to be a Sky+ customer as you wouldn't need to get Sky involved.

@caesarome ah ok,many thanks.

Perhaps IF my mums eyes were better we'd be considering Sky Q,but as it stands, our HD boxes are currently ticking all of our boxes.

@DorsetJon do just bear in mind that Sky+ boxes haven't been manufactured since 2015, so you're unlikely to find a replacement box which hasn't previously been used, and will, therefore, be on borrowed time.

@DorsetJon If you don't fancy the prospect of ringing up, I used this link

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/cancel-sky-tv#still-need-hand

Scroll right down to the bottom and select Need More Help

This should give an option to open a Chat session to deal with your re-contract.

I find it useful to be able to read exactly what is being offered and have a vital couple of minutes to decide without feeling rushed on a phone call.

Urgent Notice for Sky+ users: as of 29th October 2024 you will no longer be able to pair your viewing card to a Sky+/Sky+HD box that the card is not already paired to, so if your Sky box breaks you cannot replace it and you’ll need to move to either Sky Q, Sky Glass or Sky Stream to access Sky content

@oj01 many thanks,i'll certainly bare than in mind, when trying to source a new contract.

I've always found the laguage barrier vey taxing when ringing Sky,they probably cant understand my broad Dorset accent, and I most certainly struggle to make head or tail,of them.

So your advice may well be very useful.
