Re: On demand download failure Sky+ on 2 boxes

I have the DRX890-C, which I think is a 'Sky' box as opposed to one of the other makers, so I should be ok re box/software and the 11 (272) error (i.e. something else causing this error for me, not an old box).

I used this site (note, may be a bit old!):

https://www.satinsure.com/technical-support/types-of-sky-boxes

Also DRX890 appears here...

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-software-updates

My software appears to be up-to-date (R024.092.11.00P).

I have one of the original all black 1tb boxes and it has R024.092.11.00P installed and according to the second link in the last post this is the current software version

Only DRX890 and DRX895 models will have received the R024 software

Has there been any further feedback from sky, or are they still working tirelessly to fix the issue they caused a couple of months ago?

Re: On demand download failure Sky+ on 2 boxes

I am trying to assit by having another go with Wireshark. But to get any meaningful data I need to find an ethernet hub rather than a switch to connect both my sky box, laptop and ethernet cable to my router to. So everything trying to advertise itself as a hub is actually a switch. It needs to be a hub as they send all packets to all ports and switches don't.

Re: On demand download failure Sky+ on 2 boxes

@MogwaiSatTVIf you can't find a hub, a switch with port mirroring (I think the Netgear GS108 can do it) might be easier to find.

Re: On demand download failure Sky+ on 2 boxes

Do I need to do anything to it to make it mirror or does it just do it by default?

Re: On demand download failure Sky+ on 2 boxes

@MogwaiSatTV You may need to check the exact model version and YouTube videos, it's not a model I have experience with.  But a second hand switch with port mirroring is probably cheaper and easier to find these days than a genuine hub.

Re: On demand download failure Sky+ on 2 boxes

looks like the netgear Gs015e can do it. So I will get one of those and see what I can desern from Wireshark

Sky+ onDemand still not working

We're almost at 10 weeks into this problem - still no ability to download any onDemand programmes, other than BBC or ITV.

Has anyone had any update info?

@emteepeeess I've added your post to the existing thread, as Sky said they would update this thread when the problem is resolved.

No-one will have manufactured a ethernet hub  for at least a decade: the silicon which they used would be unobtainable now.

" As of 2011, connecting network segments by repeaters or hubs is deprecated by IEEE 802.3 "

You might find some on eBay for a few pounds as technology curios: 3Com had true hubs in their 'OfficeConnect' branded range back in the day (around the turn of the millennium) for example.  I was buying them in the mid 1990s because there was a considerable price premium for switching.

@<ark39 Thanks - I was going to post to this thread, but it has become full of off-topic stuff so I've ignored it.
