Worcester WR4 area.
Interference when watching Sky programmes Monday & Tuesday 16th & 17th May during heavy rain.
Continued Wednesday even though weather ok then Wednesday night during Rangers match went off completely. Still off today Thursday 19th May. Nothing works in trying to get Sky back on.
WHAT'S GOING ON??? Anyone else having these problems please? And any advice as nothing Sky tell you to do works. Many thanks.

When we switched on TV and Sky box on Thursday evening - to see if we would yet again just get a blank screen or the no signal message - hey presto, all channels accessible as normal.
So glad to have sky+ back to normal. Hope it doesn't happen again.
Thank you Sky Community.
@mssky31 If I was guessing, I'd say that the heavy rain you mentioned initially penetrated into your cabling which would remain so for a few days. Now that it's had time to dry out its fine. Next time you get rain it might happen again.

Hi. Thanks for the suggestions but, when the box won't even come on, it's not possible to do what you or Annie suggested.
It was clearly a Sky 'outage' problem since, when 5.30pm today (19 May), when we switched on to check if yet again we got nothing cos the box did not connect/not even a message of no satellite signal - suddenly Sky HD+ was back on.
When we pay so much for Sky HD+ it is totally unacceptable that we have had interrupted then zero service with it being SO ridiculously difficult to contact Sky to get an answer (other than arrange an engineer at £65). DISGUSTING.
But many thanks to you both for kindly trying to help. Hope someone does something nice for you. Kind regards

Yes, your Sky box won't be able to initialise if it has been without a signal for several days - less if you switch it off at the plug.
Everybody across the UK and Ireland receives the same signal, so an outage would affect everyone as @Annie+UK posted (and the forum would be full of others posting about the same problem). Loss of satellite signal is local to you, and is a fault with your setup.

This happened to my last year during a storm. Sky HD+ went off and no amount of switching the box off for a few minutes then back on would bring up a channel other than Sky's message that the box isnt receiving a signal.
I resorted to taking the card out and saw the area around the chip looked 'burnt' as if it had fried. I contacted Sky to ask for a new card and instead got the run around by someone wanting to stick to their script of rebooting the box etc. Eventually when all that failed (again!) I told them I thought the card was faulty and wanted a new one.
The cheeky blighters said there's a £10 fee! I said Ive been with sky 20 years and never requested a new card before and that I didnt think I should pay. They agreed to send me one for free. And guess what? As soon as I put the new card in and paired it to the box, had all my channels again!

@mssky31 I never gave any advice, I just exlained how satellite TV was delivered to everyones box, it does not work the same as terrestrial freeview which uses regional transmitters

Your issue may be due to extreme weather conditions IE, Heavy Rain, Storm Conditions.
I had the same problem when trying to watch TV or record programmes.
My soultion was after the extreme weather conditions had ceased i turned the Sky + box
off and unpluged the box and left the box for 5 minutes.
I then pluged the box back in and switched on power .
After a further 5 minutes i pressed the Sky button on the remote controller
The TV came on and should be tuned into the Sky info channel 998, your Sky + box should now be tuned in and ready to use.

That was a question, hence the ?
If you could not get to the settings to answer the question then your box had a bigger issue than just a loss of signal from the satellite as signal loss does not stop you from accessing the settings etc...

Thanks so much @Reavell for your response. Yes, we did exactly as you describe BUT just kept getting a "no signal" message or a blank screen. Disappointed that @Annie+UK claims she did not give advice when she most deifintely did! I even printed it out to try to resolve the problem. Whatever. Anyway, many thanks for taking the time to respond. Kind regards.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreJust for clarification: Advice is given to try and resolve an issue, I was just trying to gather more information to get a better idea of what your issue was
You said "My advice was no use" but in reality you were not able to gather the info I requested and had nothing to do with the usefulness of my instructions
