New Satellite Box and Contract

Hi

I'm getting very frustrated trying to change my Sky contract.  I have a 10 year old Sky+ box which is on it's last legs and I can't switch to one of the streaming services as I've got very limited Internet speeds in my rural property so anything on-demand doesn't work.

All I want is the basic Sky TV package without any Cinema, Sports, Kids or any other add ins plus a new Sky box which works through my existing dish. I also need the Sky F1 channel on it's own.  Despite 3 calls to Sky I've got nowhere trying to order this, they just don't seem to understand what I need!

Does anyone have any ideas on how to order this please?

Thanks

@CountryBumpkin Sky won't provide a replacement Sky+ box. It's obsolete. You would need to request an upgrade to Sky Q, which is Sky's current satellite TV platform.

(Don't be tempted to buy your own replacement Sky+ box,  as you won't be able to use it with your subscription).

hi @CountryBumpkin

the only way to get a new box is to switch to SKY Q  - You may wish to read some notes I have made for people considering switching from SKY +/HD to SKY Q

SKY +/HD to SKY Q

Note the on demand / catch up on SKY Q is similar to SKY HD - it downloads & you can watch after it has downloaded - even if it takes a long time due to internet speed

Use of apps, of course would not be of any use to you.

Getting SKY to retain your package to just include F1, I think should still be feasible but you might need the 'right' adviser (it is unlikely you could hang on to F1 if it was under the legacy entitlement rather than a paid single channel)

What is your current 'Base' Package ?

It shouldn't be that hard, very sorry to hear this and sorry you've been given the run-around.

Notwithstanding the above, on the 4th call, speak the five simple words "I. want. to. order. SkyQ." . If they don't understand that, ask to be put through to someone who understands those 5 words. SkyQ is definitely still available for new installs: if they tell you it's no longer available, they are lying, so hang up and dial again to get someone honest.

Also of course do check out @nigea99 's guide above.
