My BBC channels are all wonky, but all other channels are fine

All my BBC channels have started going wonky. EVERY other channel works fine. The signal on output 1 keeps coming and going.
I have tried all the cables. I tried turning it off and on again. I have tried removing viewing card and putting it back. And i also tried a System Rebuild. NOTHING has worked. It is very strange indeed.

The issue started on Saturday night. I was watching Jools Holland and all was fine. As soon as the next programme started, it all kicked off.
I had a weird event happen around August. It started on a Tuesday night. I lost all the terrestial freeview channels on my box. Thinking it would sort itself overnight, i left it. Tried the box the next day, i had lost ALL channels, with the No Signal error message. It remained that way for 6 days. And of course, the morning the Sky Engineer was due, all service was restored, meaning the engineers time was wasted.

I did read on the forums thart someone with Sky Q, had the same issue with BBC channels, back in June, but they anaged to sort it, after resetting their box

Sounds like you have an intermittent problem with the signal from your satellite dish. If it persists, probably best to report it to Sky again.

Re: My BBC channels are all wonky, but all other channels are fine

Its REALLY strange how it is only the BBC Channels that are affected. All other channels are fine. The issue was barely noticeable on tuesday and wednesday, in the late evening, but last night, it was real bad.
I took the liberty of videoing what is happening, cause knowing my luck, the engineer will come and the issue will resolve itself, just like what happened in the summer, when i lost ALL signal for 6 days. Just as the engineer was due, i switched the sky on, it was suddenly working perfectly again.

Is it possible that someone in my block of flats maybe has some bit of kit, that is disrupting channel reception? Its a long shot, but is all i could think of. Even then, surely if there was something of that nature, im sure it would affect ALL channels, not just BBC. All very strange!!

@gman70 assuming you're connected to a communal dish, rather than having your own, Sky won't be able to help you with this. It's your landlord (or their managing agent) who owns the system and has responsibility for providing a usable signal to your flat. It's them that you would need to contact. It might he worth asking your neighbours who have Sky if they're seeing the same problem.

Re: My BBC channels are all wonky, but all other channels are fine

it is now day 7 of this issue. It is just after 9am. Usually, during the week, my tv doent go on till around 6pm.
Right now, the BBC channels are working perfectly. Will be interesting to see if the signal declines during the day.
I indeed do have a communal dish. I do have a sky engineer booked for monday. Im not going to cancel them, as they can check over the equipment in my flat. I know about the Housing Society being responsible for the dish etc....so i also contacted them, to send an engineer.
I think i mentioned, i made a few vids, showing how bad the issue got, during the last 7 days. I can show that to the engineers

Re: My BBC channels are all wonky, but all other channels are fine

Within an hour of my last post, saying the channels were working again, they are wonky again. I have NO idea what the hell is going on.
Id have thought if it was an allignment issue, ALL channels would be affected. i would have thought if some nearby bit of equipment was causing interference, it wouldnt only be one braodcasters channels that would be affected.

Actually, no. While a slight misalignment may weaken the signal on multiple transponders It's quite possible for it to drop below the usable threshold for, just one, while the others remain OK. Similarly interference might affect just a narrow band of frequencies. From memory, I believe the BBC channels sit on one transponder, which may just happen to be the one affected.

Hopefully the engineer's test kit will be able to shed light on what's happening.

Re: My BBC channels are all wonky, but all other channels are fine

I have now had THREE seperate visits from Sky Engineers. There have been 2 engineers working on this perplexing issue, for nearly 3 hours now. They changed over equipment, meaning we can get Sky Q in the block of flats now.
So many tests have been done. Eliminated the possibility of it being a fault with my ageing, but highly reliable Sky HD Box.
So the engineer reckons it is either "ends" up in the Loft space of the building, which he says should be easy fixed or (this is not good news) it is the cable running from the dish to my flat, within the walls of the building.
The Enginner tried a Sky Q box and said that the issue wasnt prevalent on the Sky Q (for some reason), so, if Sky will give me a free Sky Q box, the issue might be sorted. BUT, i only have 6 moths left on my current contract and i am on a good deal (£41 per month, for full sky channels), I dont want to pay any more than that price.
Now just waiting to hear if it is in fact, these "ends" that are the issue

****UPDATE****

The only thing left to try, is Dish allingment and the LNB. They cant get to it without specialist gear (a cherry picker). So now need to wait for that. I am pretty confident that would have been the first thing they would have looked at, if it was an ordinary house.
Im hoping this can be resolved soon. Now been stuck with this issue for 2 and a half weeks

ISSUE FIXED!!

4th visit from the engineers today. This time, they came armed with specialist ladders, to be able to get access to the communal dish.
Turns out, the LNB had a whacking great hole in it. Getting Sky Q fitted on tuesday, since all the switch gear was upgraded this week, in an attempt to rectify my issue.
