Hi
I have been using a magic eye on 2 TV' (bedroom and kitchen) for several years and no problems. I have replaced the TV in the kitchen this week with a LG smart TV and whilst I have been able to tune in the sky channel (C68) I am no longer able to use the magic eye to change channels. I have tried a new eye which didn't work and tried to connecting the eye currently working perfect in the bedroom in the kitchen but neither are working. I've done the RF output thing to on/off/on on the box but nothing. When I connect the eyes to the kitchen TV the lights do not appear.
I have contacted LG who have confirmed it is compatible.
help please?! Thanks

I admit I have forgotten all the details of how the magic eyes work (I have had Q for 6+ years)
I know it may be difficult to try to see if this works but can you try unplugging the RF input to the the new TV and try using the Magic eye to change channel etc - if you can it would indicate that the TV may be shorting out or otherwise affecting the power voltage being used to power the magic eye

Thanks for the reply. Please could you explain what you mean by 'unplugging the RF input'. Sorry if I'm being stupid!!

Yes it's lit in the bedroom and changing channels perfectly. However when I plug into the new kitchen TV, no light and non responsive

Try just not connecting the ariel lead to the TV itself (just connect to the eye) to see if the led lights up on the eye & possibly try changing channel on the SKY Box whilst not connected to the TV

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreUnplug everything from the aerial socket on your new TV and have the magic eye plugged in to the coax cable, you should be able to change the channel on the sky box but not get a picture on the TV
This will eliminate the TV from the setup to see if the magic eye/coax cable is faulty or the TV causing an issue

Thanks again. No light on the eye when not connected to the TV but still connected to the Ariel cable. It doesn't change the Channel on the sky box either

There is a problem with the cable/connectors or the eye is faulty 😞 Try the eye directly attached to RF2 on the Sky box if still no LED then it is busted 😞

Thanks for your help. It's a conundrum because the eye works on other TV's and the cable works on other TV's. I therefore think it must be the TV itself but LG assure me that it's compatible and all settings are correct.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreYou have tried the eye without the TV in the loop so it cannot be the TV
If there is a short in the cable or an issue with the connectors on the cable going to the new TV this will stop the 9v power getting to the eye from the sky box hence no power LED lighting up
Just to confirm you are only using RF2 for the magic eye<s> and not RF1 as only RF2 provides the 9v power?
