We have had builders working on our house and they decided to move our sky cables without asking and secure them to the wall which has lost us half the channels. Is there anything we could do without having to call an engineer? The cables have been folded and secured to the arm of the satellite dish. Would it help if I cut the ties?

Difficult to say what has happened. Folding the cables or tight turns may have damaged them internally (spare cable is best loosely coiled rather than folded). You could try cutting the cable ties, but it won't help if the cable is internally damaged. You'll most likely have to get a local satellite installer to take a look and probably replace the cables, I'm afraid. Sky are no longer providing engineer support for Sky+ equipment, unless you have Sky Protect.

Re: Lost some channels after cables moved
And any work necessary by a local satellite company would be at your own expense so worthwhile getting a couple of quotes. Sky typically charge about £65 for such work on Sky Q systems.

Re: Lost some channels after cables moved
Thank you. I will probably have to do that in the end. I will try unfolding them first to see if it makes any difference..
