Locked Recordings being deleted

I have a SKY box which is around 98-100% full and shared by a number of family members in the house.

I know that at this level of usage new recordings will overwrite earlier ones but believed those identified as keep would not be deleted to make space for new recordings.

Can any one explain why recordings with' KEEP' status are randomly being deleted opposed to those without?

Also those without are not being deleted in oldest one first

Any explanation?

Are they downloads or recordings from the TV Guide? Downloads from On Demand are automatically deleted once they expire.

KEEP does NOT override a programmes expiry date/time, the expiry is shown in the synopsis area (you may need to press the i button on your remote control)

They are recordings from TV Guide and not downloaded content

Re: Locked Recordings being deleted

Thanks for comments - the recording are usually from BBC/ITV news/ topical shows so the deleted 'KEEP' ones are within 3-4 weeks of recording date

We've seen occasional reports before about recordings from BBC being deleted automatically. I don't think it has been established why. As recordings with the Keep indicator aren't deleted to make space for new recordings, I can only assume they're deleted at the behest of the BBC. I don't know what the reason is for ITV recordings being deleted, if they are.

@Mark39 Well, this has me confused. I always thought that it was the 'LOCK' option that prevented auto deletion not 'KEEP', but Google confirms that it is 'KEEP'.

So, what does 'LOCK' do?

Lock PIN protects the programme, KEEP stops auto housekeeping deletes

@germain123 Recordings that have been Viewed (even part viewed) should/would be deleted first oldest to newest then Unviewed oldest to newest.

I didn't know, but you made me curious. Apparently:

"You can lock programmes stored in your Planner to avoid them being
played back without your permission.
1 Go to your Planner.
2 Highlight the programme you want to restrict.
3 If necessary, press left/right until you can see the red option Lock.
4 Press the red button. A padlock symbol appears next to the
programme and you now have to enter a PIN to play or delete it.
You also need the PIN to remove the lock in future."
