I cant watch some channels through Sky why is this i get

I thought it might have something to do with the weather but I have asked friends and they have no problem. The channels I cant watch are BBC1 Channel 5  itv2 and other sky channels

If the error message is 'no satellite signal' there's most likely a problem with your dish set up or rainwater has got into the cables. You would need a local satellite installer to come out and take a look (unless you have Sky Protect). 

If the error message is something different, let us know.

If there is something wrong with the dish or water has got in the cables why can I watch majority of the channels all the sports channels are fine

Different channels have tuning characteristics and can be affected differently. It's entirely possible that some channels can be working OK while others aren't. 

If, there was a problem with the broadcast signal everyone would be affected.
