Sky+HD box has developed various faults ie sluggish or freezes when changing channels, no info displayed (or is incorrect), has to be repeatedly rebooted, doesn't record, cannot access the planner - basically it no longer works properly (nor does the online advice). It seems to be impossible to contact Sky either by phone or email - appreciate it's a difficult time but this a frustrating and unacceptable situation. How do I book an engineer?

If you don't have Sky Protect it will cost you so you might want to consider buying a second hand box on Ebay instead. Alternatively it might be the right time to consider an upgrade to SkyQ
if you do want to call Sky
If you have Sky Talk dial 150.
If not ring them up on the number at the bottom of this page under 'need more help' and when prompted just say ‘technical’ or ‘speak to an advisor’, do not say billing
Ignore the automated message and stay on the line. Sky are taking calls from all customers.

1. Call Sky to book an engineer
2. Upgrade to Sky Q
3. Source a used replacement yourself

You have provided no details but if your box is faulty then give Sky a call.

Hi 👋 my sky box is repeatedly causing problems. We keep having to reboot it and ending up losing all the recordings etc we've followed the instructions but I've just turned the box on and once again unable to watch last night's recordings and as this keeps happening I need an engineer to help ASAP

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreAs stated above, if your box is faulty then give Sky a call. They will probably want you to upgrade to Sky Q which you do not need to do if you do not want to.
If you have a Sky Mobile or Sky Talk landline phone then you can call Sky for free via the 150 number. Or under "Need more help ?" at the bottom this page is the number to call:
Just ignore the messages at the start of the call and remain on the line for as long as you can and don't hang up when asked to do so.

This is primarily a forum for customers to help other customers, so you aren’t speaking with Sky Customer Services and Sky won’t contact you as the result of your post on here.
Please read the suggestions already provided above.
If you choose to call Sky if you already have a Sky Talk landline or a Sky Mobile ring them for free by just dialling 150, otherwise you can use this link:
https://www.sky.com/help/home
UK: Scroll down and click on ‘Need more help’ and it provides an 0333 number.
ROI: change the flag in the very bottom right corner of the link to the ROI flag then scroll down and click on ‘Need more help’ and it provides an 0818 number.
(The forum filters don’t allow us to type the digits in full).
Waiting times on the phone lines are apparently less just after 7am or about 9pm so you could try then (times vary in the ROI). Stay on the line and don’t hang up if you’re prompted to.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Sandmin there are a few steps you can take yourself to,try to resolve this.
First restart your Sky box by switching it off at the plug for 4 minutes. If that doesn't help try a Planner Rebuild and lastly a full System Reset. This help guide explains how to carry out the latter two.
If the problem remains, your box will need to be replaced. Sky may be able to provide a refurbished replacement (the last Sky+ boxes were manufactured in 2015/2016) or you could source a used box possibly more cheaply from ebay etc. Alternatively now might be the time,to consider,Sky Q.
