Hard disk error shown on Sky+ Box

Ny box has started flashing a hard disk error message. The reset and factory reset suggested also did not work. The option suggested to me is an upgrade to Sky Q but I cannot find a way of figuring out what the additional cost, if any, would be for the package I am on.  Does anyone know how to find this out ?

Also if  someone knows about another step that is worth trying to get the hard disk issue corrected that would also be useful to know.

@lemsip12354 If you'd rather stay with Sky+HD then you can source a used box from eBay etc. Make sure to get a DRX890 or DRX895 model as these will run the latest (albeit a few years old) software.

 

Alternatively, switching to Sky Q shouldn't be any more expensive if you stay on the same subscription package (though Sky will doubtless try to upsell)

@oj01 Thanks for that. I will look into that suggestion.

If the Sky Q upgrade is easy and effective, it might be worth doing just to get current with the kit. Would depend if there is a cost involved of course as I dont really want to make any changes to the package or service otherwise

Does anyone know the best way to order the upgrade to sky Q ?

Virtually impossible to get through by phone, the prerecorded messages keep referring to how easy it is to do this online. However I cannot find anywhere online that makes it possible to upgrade a sky+ service to sky Q.

Am I missing something obvious ?

@lemsip12354 Always better to do it by phone. That way you have a chance to negotiate a free installation and can double check the terms of the package.

Just stay on the line after the recorded message and you will eventually be connected to Customer Service.
