Dish bracket broken

Hello, my dish has come away from the bracket and needs securing.  As a result I do not get a signal as I cannot keep the dish secure.

I have Sky+.  I will be happy to switch to Q but I have a lot of shows on the planner I do not want to lose.  I cannot get these on catch-up as they are live events and/or old ones.

If I switch to Q can I somehow keep the recordings?

Would Sky send an engineer to fix the dish?  Last time someone replaced my dish but it's awkward as you have to do it through a small bedroom window.  He was a Sky employee and managed it.  The time before they tried from the outside but I live in a 3rd floor flat and even the extended height team couldn't reach.

Would be grateful for any help.

Thanks.

Please Note: Sky+ is now a legacy/obsolete service that Sky are replacing with their newer services: Sky Glass, Sky Stream and Sky Q (Satellite TV is approaching end of life so is not a long term solution)

Sky do not send engineers out to Sky Plus customers any more

@ChaserLee1

Sky no longer support Sky+ and Sky+HD. You'll need to employ a local satellite engineer at your own expense to repair/replace the dish.

If you have Sky Protect insurance through Domestic and General Insurance you can call them but a recent post suggested they wouldn't send an engineer - but did offer the customer £65 towards arranging one themselves.

The alternative is contacting Sky to upgrade to Sky Q or change to Glass / Stream. I'm afraid all recordings would be lost.

Re: Dish bracket broken

Would it work if I brought the dish inside the room by the window just long enough to clear the planner?

@ChaserLee1

By doing that it would be very unlikely to be pointing towards the satellite.

@ChaserLee1

You may, also, wish to read some notes I have made for people considering switching from SKY +/HD to SKY Q

SKY +/HD to SKY Q  which does mention that you would not keep your recordings

The location of your dish may be problematical with if you do consider a move to SKY Q
