Re: Catchup TV download fails

I hope you find a solution. If you do perhaps you would post it for the rest of us. I'd be tempted by a comeback offer if the on demand could be made to work.

Re: Catchup TV download fails

Hi Bob

we had an engineer out who used an alternative broadband provider which worked fine. This obviously indicated a broadband issue. So I contacted my ISP (Three) who said "Aha! There is a known issue between the router and the Sky box which affects certain Sky download channels. This is being worked on and we'll let you know when there is a solution"

So if you see Sky technical error 11 it is worth trying an alternative broadband if possible or at least contacting your broadband provider to see if they are aware

when I get a final resolution I will try and post an update here

Thanks to all responders

Re: Catchup TV download fails

Thank you for that Techwalla. I live in the Isle of Man and the UK internet providers don't operate here so I've no real choice.  Armed with your experience I'll phone Manx Telecom again and see what they say. (My latest comeback offer expires today!)

Re: Catchup TV download fails

So after many weeks and bouncing back and forth between Sky and my ISP (Three) - finally a resolution.

It seems the Three supplied router/modem was the cause of the trouble. Don't know why - whether it was a setting or a fault or even a design issue neither I nor Three know.

Anyway, a new modem/router and the problem is solved - phew!

I guess my only further comment is - if you get this kind of a problem you cannot let the parties Sky, or another party, off the hook. They will do all they can to make another party the problem so perseverance pays - eventually.

I am also amazed that people on technical helplines don't listen - they stick to scripts and you just gotta persevere and get through their obstinacy.

So - don't give up - persevere - there is a solution - eventually

Re: Catchup TV download fails

Hi Techwalla

Thanks for letting us know, I'm glad you found your solution. I've had the problem with two different router/modems, one suppled by the ISP (not 3) and one I bought myself. I'm subscribing to NOW at the moment. If I can summon the resolve I might try Sky again though they may not be happy if I cancel within the 30 days because On Demand won't work!
