Can this Country not function without the internet?

Can this country not function without broadband/internet any more this is certainly the case with Sky TV?
My elderly parents (aged 88 and 85) who have been loyal customers with Sky TV for around 35 years have been let down very badly by them.
Their sky not working so I called to get it repaired after a call lasting around 1 hour I was informed that the system they were on Sky+ was obsolete and they were not repairing this system any longer and they would need to upgrade to Sky Q. I informed them that parents have no broadband and do not want nor need to have it, the advisor could not understand this and kept saying things like send them an email or go online to arrange. I had to keep repeating that there is no internet in the house.
I said I was previously informed that you could not have Sky Q multi room if you have no broadband but I was assured that this was possible. Eventually after 3 further calls over the next week I was finally given an appointment 3 weeks later for an engineer to call. We were sent an appointment by text and letter saying they would come between 8am and 1pm, the engineer finally arrived at 16.15 and immediately informed us you could not have this set up without broadband. He was very nice and tried to fix the Sky+ as it was the Sky box that was broken we tried to use amy old box i had before I upgraded in my own house but couldn’t pair my box to the Sky viewing card. I called the following day to ask them to help to pair it but the person on the phone was very rude and said this couldn’t be done as the serial number was not registered to this address.
Big thumbs down from me to Sky and will now be getting them set up with Virgin but this will also need to have a broadband charge because nothing can be done without internet!!

You can on longer pair a voiewing card to a different Sky+ box any more as Sky don't support this legacy system

As for Broadband most services are going this route as it is cheaper for them to run, TV will end up fully relient on the Internet within the next few years as the satellites get decommissioned and freeview gets switched off

Broadcasting is 20th century technology which is on the way out: it's extremely expensive to keep going in an era when the majority potential audience is already online.

Virgin has always used its own private cable network to distribute 'television'.
