Can I cancel Sky Q box to freesat Sky plus box if I buy a viewing card?

I want to cancel my Sky subscription package. I have a Now box in one room and a Sky Q box in the other. When I change the Sky Q box to an old Sky plus box there is no signal. The same happens when I put a freesat Humax box  which I can access freeview channels in the other room. Someone said I need a Sky viewing card in the Sky box to access the free channels as there is no signal.. I haven't changed my subscription yet but think it's better to have streaming with Now and have a Sky plus box in the other room to watch free channels. Do I need to buy a Sky viewing card? or do I need to change the LNB satellite? Strange because the Humax gives me free channels in the other room.

Any ideas please? Thank you.

Sky Q and newer Freesat boxes use Wideband LNBs on the dish, this type of dish does not work for Sky+

@Dharmadev You don't need a viewing card to receive the free to air channels on a Sky+HD box, but as Annie says you would need to get the LNB changed. Probably best to contact a local TV installer for a quote.

Freesat or Freeview?

If a Freesat box works in one room but not the other then I think that suggests you already have a 'hybrid' LNB on the dish but it's the model where one particular cable pair is dedicated to Sky Q use and won't pass a signal usable by a Sky+ (or Freesat) box
