Hi,
My Sky +HD Box has just started performing strangely, up until then it had worked perfectly.
A few days ago I started getting horizontal flashes across the TV screen, similar to those some of us would get years ago on terrestrial TV where radio transmissions interfered with the picture.
Two days later the picture blanked out and all I can see is a white screen. Sound is NOT affected. It is NOT permanent. I might get a white screen for 10 seconds, it disappears, 15 minutes later if appears for 30 seconds of more.
Resetting the Box hasn't worked, in fact after one reset when the box fired up there was an immediate white screen.
If I'm watching a programme and recording one at the same time and the screen goes white, the recording is NOT affected.
If after a white-out I do a rewind I'm able to view the missed content, strangely it's NOT been affected.
It's intermittent and I'm unable to replicate the problem myself, I'm at the mercy of the Box.
I didn't get a white screen when I switched off the Sky Box and watched TV through the ariel (remember those??), nor did I get a white screen when I watched a DVD using a HDMI socket on the TV. This makes me think it’s the Box and NOT the TV but I could be wrong.
One time I switched off the Sky Box at the mains whilst the white screen was displayed. The TV screen still stayed white for quite a while. Normally the screen would show a dark grey.
Yesterday I spent a long time trying to fix the problem. I tried the following:
Ensured that all leads where firmly affixed.
Swapped the HDMI cable.
Moved the Box’s HDMI cable to another HDMI socket on my TV
If anyone could assist me I’d be truly grateful.
Archie

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreFrom what you have said it could be your TV itself that is playing up and if it is then it is nothing to do with your Sky+ box. The fact it is doing this when your box is switched off does suggest that this is what is happening.

Thanks.
It didn't happen when I watched DVD, nor when I watched TV through an ariel but it did stay white for a short while when I turned if off at the mains.
Yes, I think I'll swap over the TV and see if that works. In some ways I'd prefer that it was the TV!
Thanks again
