Accessing Sky tv in retirement home

My dad, who has a sky contract, is shortly moving into a retirement home. They apparently have a Sky multi user dish which has outputs in each room. They say my dad needs to install his Sky+ box to access the tv programmes. What cables will I need to connect up his box and is it just a simple plug and play operation or will I need to get an engineer to set up? Do I need to do any more than inform Sky of my dads new address?

If they have told him/you that you need to install the Sky+ box then it should just be a case of connecting the cables up to the box itself. You will need to inform Sky of your fathers new address once you has moved in.

@PostieMick if the satellite connections in your dad's room terminate in a wall socket, rather than bare cables, he'll need one or two flyleads (depending on how many sockets, there are) like these.

If there's only one connection, he'll also need to turn on Somgle Feed Mode in his Sky box settings.

Thanks, was looking at these and hoping it might be that easy. Any idea if the wall socket is likely to be a screw in one or a push in type like an aerial socket?

If it's been properly installed it will be a screw in f-socket (or ideally 2). It should be straightforward.

Aerial sockets aren't really suitable for a satellite connection.

Sky boxes always use a screw thread (F) connection at the box end for their satellite feed: it would be very unusual for the wall socket of the same feed to be push fit as there wouldn't be any suitable connection leads readily available.
