2 hdmi ports in tv 3 things to use, what type of switcher do I need

I have a Panasonic tv, only has 2 hdmi slots, one of whic is an Arc.  I am trying to connect, my SKY + box and dvd into hdmi1 as I need hdmi arc to install Roku sound stream bar.

I purchased a splitter switch and plugged everything in.  Sound bar worked ok, if I used switcher dvd worked ok, sky box worked but only on channels live, would not let me watch anything I had recorded, all I got was a blue blank screen.

Took all items out re installed as normal,ie sky into hmdi1, dvd into hdmi2 arc, both worked.

do I need a switcher that has its own power source.  Spoke to sky and they are useless.

help please.

Never needed to use one on my TV as I always make sure I have enough HDMI ports

You need a HDMI splitter with the correct HDCP so that it does not trigger copy protection that I guess is causing you problems

Based on previous posts, yes, you do. The power provided by Sky's HDMI output is usually inadequate to properly drive an HDMI switch. As @Annie+UK posted, it needs to be HDCP compliant too. I've used Neet powered switches successfully in the past
