Although Sky no longer offers the Soundbox for sale, there are many thousands still in use and from what I see in the Sky Soundbox board, the setup and operation can still cause confusion.
So, I put together a quick guide for users that could help clarify a few things that some may find unclear.
Enabling Sky Q Sound modes
Sky Q Sound modes are only for Sky Q and only with HDMI.
To enable Sky Q sound modes:
- On your Sky Q box menu - Go to Settings > Setup > Audio visual > turn the HDMI control 'ON'
- Exit the Settings menu
- Press the ? button on the Sky Q remote to open the Sky Soundbox on-screen menu.
There are Exclusive Sound Experiences which aim to automatically improve sound for selected sports, music and movies. In my experience they do seem to make the sound brighter but you can toggle 'Q Sound' on or off to see which you prefer.
There are also selectable modes for speech, late night and kids. I find speech is clearer, late night takes down the bass and kids prevents very loud volumes. You can also just choose none.
