yesterday as i was sitting with the remote on my kap it went bang i can see no damage on it or inside it but it has stopped working ive replaced the battery

If you have one available you can use a Sky Q remote while you wait for the replacement to arrive.
An afterthought - You could also try holding the remote at both ends and giving it a gentle twist as though you were wringing out a cloth. There was a faulty batch of remotes at the end of last year and this method often worked even though it sounds an unlikely solution.
