hi having wasted counless hours and speaking to a technician for over 1 hour i still have a problem running My5 on two recently contracted sky stream pucks. My5 starts, i can login to it, but when i select a program (any program) the default advert starts, then the screen goes blank. i can fast forward as pay for the ad blocker from sky, however it finishes about 10 seconds before the end and the program does not start. I have reset the puck, reloaded the apps, rebooted, multiple times. Sky reckon that the problem is new and to speak with my5 (as if they speak to mere mortals). From reading the my5 site, it specifically mentions that MY5 will not work with ad blocker SW. Also it seems that the adverts are created to be specific to the individual, so try and play as 4 or 5 individual streams. this seems to confuse the sky ad blocker and stall the App.. what i cant understand is why i'm the only person seeing this according to sky... Help.. and the my5 app works from the Smart TV but not convienient.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreI think your are confusing "ad blocker" software (which is what the My5 info is telling you it won't work with) with Skys ad-skipping add-on.
Obviously the Sky ad-skipping should work with My5.
Out of curiosity if you are logged-in of the My5 app have you tried logging out of that on your Sky Stream, rebooting the Sky stream puck by using the restart option in the settings menu and then trying to log back in to the My5 app.

Good point yes ad skipping, it appears that the ads i get on my5 when it works on my mobile are 4 or 5 separate streams, rather than a continual ad break. and yes tried logging in/out of all or just the puck. its the same on the other puck we have as well..

to add, we dont actually see the adverts apart from the sponsored by Simba mattresses which is the 5 default, then screen goes blank. i will ask sky to turn off Ad skip to prove its that.
