YouTube problems

Late last night, YouTube looked like this on the Sky Stream Puc.

YouTube on my Samsung Oled 55" and Manhatten PVR, absolutely no issues.

Yikes. That's not good. Was it in sync at least? There's got to be something positive to say about the puck?!?

I've always maintained that all the issues with the service stem from the infrastructure of the entire server-based architecture that Comcast have chosen to use.

If you look on forums for the XiOne box, the Xumo Stream box, and the Hubbl Hub (which all run a variant of the same Entertainment OS on the same hardware) they all exhibit similar issues.

I just think that hosting apps and the backbone of the whole system externally, not on the streaming hardware itself, is not the best idea. I can see how it makes sense from a corporate point of view, giving Comcast ultimate control over everything and they ability to change things as they see fit, but from a customer perspective, it just doesn't do it for me.

Re: Picture Intermittently Pixelating - Many Channels

@Uniform576 No worries mate. Now TV is cheaper overall , EETV for me hardware wise looks the best as you can have their EETV pro box or apple tv 4k however EETV don't do sports in 4k yet. They all get the same broadcast from sky on sky content but for me pixelation even on sky stream isn't an issue anymore as they've sorted it out on the sports channels so if you want to switch to now or EETV , you should be fine as you don't watch sports anyway . Hope that helps

Re: Picture Intermittently Pixelating - Many Channels

@MohsinAwan NowTV doesn't get all the same broadcast as Sky. On NowTV, you get the Sky branded channels and a couple of others. You also have to pay extra for 1080p HD and more again for UHD. If you don't, your only going to get 720p HD.

It doesn't look like BT/EE are going to be selling the Ultra Boost either because EE are starting to resell Sky Stream.

On the AppleTV box via EE, there is no physical or cloud recording either so despite how they dress it up, it's a pretty inferior product.

Also, I moved from BT TV because before long they had bumped up my monthly TV cost to over £100 for something they were selling to new customers for £30 or more less per month. The Pro Box is a POS and is riddled with issues and it's highly unlikely you'll ever get a full recording of a program..

Re: Picture Intermittently Pixelating - Many Channels

@Nigelb1972 I am not on either and not looking to go either mate and with now TV you can play the retention game and get massive discounts , I do tend to disagree on the broadcast you mentioned as evidence suggests otherwise and with EETV they have now TV integrated EPG and saying apple tv 4k is inferior or their pro box 4k is then fair enough you're entitled to your opinion , for me the sky puck is inferior to almost any box 😁 with all the issues people are having 👍
