Why is Sky Stream so bad

500mb Internet, no issues with Netflix, Disney, Prime (standalone apps not through Sky) have zero issues, yet Sky Stream is flakier than a 1980's Flake.

If someone from Sky is going to reply and ask me what ISP, hard wired, test connection speed or some other half baked response then you can save your digits, just email the CTO instead and tell him to hire some decent engineers.

They won't.  It's a customer Community.

Hi @Password1234 this is a customer forum so no one from Sky will respond to your post.  Quite why you are having all your issues is anyones guess as you have not given any details to work from. I personally love the streaming platform and wouldn't contemplate returning to Sky Q.  I agree it is not perfect but I have not had any problem in months that has not been sorted by a quick reboot which takes a couple of minutes (just enough time to get a coffee).  I appreciate some customers, yourself included, are not so lucky and have countless issues.

I have my stream puck connected via Ethernet but there is no difference if I decide to use WiFi instead.

Re: Why is Sky Stream so bad

It's just the usual Sky is having technical issues, but every other streaming service works perfect. And while a reboot solves it for a random amount of time it's a fairly lame fix, I dont know why that's become a solution people accept.

Glad yours is working fine though, my wife may drop kick ours down the garden 🤣

Why does every other streaming service work and Sky Stream doesn't for some customers? The key difference many people don't realise is that Sky Stream runs on SkyOS, an operating system which is largely server-based. All the apps, playlists, account info and much of the UI is stored on Sky's servers, not on the puck.
Other streaming services tend to run their OS and apps from the device itself, be it a smart TV, Firestick, Roku, GoogleTV or Apple TV device. This puts less load on the customer's broadband connection.
With Sky Stream, every button press on the remote has to send information to Sky's server so if your broadband connection isn't fast and stable constantly, you might encounter issues.
