Sky Stream is entirely server based - the puck needs a constant fast and stable connection to Sky's servers, otherwise it can easily glitch.
NOW is an app based service whereby the app itself is stored locally on your smart TV or streaming device. Such devices have a small amount of in built memory in order to cache the date received from the streaming server. This prevents the glitches you get with a Sky Stream puck which has no built in memory and no caching capability.

Different system of delivery. I think you will find that Now Tv use a much larger buffering system. Meaning that the delay is greater for live transmissions. I stand to be corrected

Well to be fair that answered that question. Thank you.
So I'm assuming, complete reset on everything and just wait and watch NOW till it sorts itself out?

I am also experiencing drop outs on the Sky Stream service. App based services run outside of the stream box are fine. I have a fast 1Gbps up and down connection which is good. Why do these drop outs keep occurring. Seems to have been happening over the past few months, was ok before.

If you use now tv as well sky stream you paying twice for the same service as now tv is not free.
Depending on your broadband a reset might now cure the problem. I have SkyQ at present but will go over to now tv when my minimum term ends. Reading all the comments on this forum I would not trust the sky stream system. I know the now tv will work well with my broadband ( I tried for short period to see if it worked) and with what I watch on Sky it also a lot cheaper option for me

I don't agree with the answer. The puck is **bleep** alright, but it does have onboard memory. If it didn't you would not be able to pause anywhere. The apps like YouTube, Disney, Netflix etc would not work. They certainly do buffer fine.
the answer is most likely to be a problem with Sky's backend. The server which is serving you the data is overloaded. Ever notice in the evenings the UI just lags like mad? Bottom presses don't get a visual response for half a second longer than usual? Yeah that's a round trip to Sky. And there servers are not coping.

I agree with this. How do we as a community progress this with Sky?
