Hey everyone,
I've been having sound issues with my setup. It keeps cutting out, stuttering, there's a clicking/ clipping noise. It only lasts a split second but happens often enough to be really annoying.
Does anyone know if the HDMI cables that come with the Sky Stream Pucks are high-quality and certified 2.1? I notice they don't look particularly good quality, like some available to buy.
After troubleshooting with Sky and Samsung technical support and getting no answers or help!! The cut outs are so faint & intermittent its hard explaining to people, especially over the phone.
So I’m considering buying all new HDMI cables for my TVs, soundbars, and Pucks, to see if they help with the sound issues.
. . I want to make sure I’m getting the right type HDMIs though and have no clue what to look for tbh.
Any insights on whether new cables might help with these issues?
Theres so many to choose from! Fibre HDMIs for £70 then others for £6 on Amazon!! Is there really much difference in performance?
Samsung Q990C soundbar, Samsung S95C OLED tv. Sky Stream whole home.
+
LG QNED81, Sky Soundbox & Puck.
Thanks!

Find out more@MySkyNightmare The HDMI cable supplied is suitable fully compatible with UHD/HDR output, they are just as good as the more expensive ones you see. HDMI signals are digital a series of 0 & 1s, expensive cables can't make any improvements despite any alleged claims.

I'm likeminded with @GD1 comments above, I can tell you that the cable that Sky provided with my Stream device wouldn't pass HDR content. I put this down to being a faulty cable. I purchased a cable for about £6 as a replacement and now enjoy HDR content using Stream

Look for Certified HDMI 2.1 cables on Amazon. The ones with the QR code hologram. You can get them for less than £10 and will give maximum bandwidth for all HDR and audio formats.
Since using them on my home A/V system I have experienced no issues (I do not own any Sky hardware.)

Thanks! . Since its not much money to replace them all, its definitely worth doing. Itll help narrow down what on earth is wrong with this annoyance I have with the sound. Well I know its the soundbar because it doesn't do it when I just use tv speakers. When its on O get this feedback high pitched whine between adverts and when it goes quiet or mute. So annoying. Never buy Samsung, their technical service is rubbish. They don't care about customers at all once you buy it, especially if its out of warranty! Sky tries their best to help troubleshooting, but this isnt the pucks fault..I think!
I regret changing from Sky Q to Stream. I hate how it goes on stand by so fast, if you don't move the remote. I'll stop complaining , coz I could be here all day!!
Thanks everyone!

have you tried changing the sound output on stream to one of the other settings to see if the issue persists ?

In that particular case, yes, because 'fibre HDMI' is an active (powered) optical technology specifically intended to permit UHD signal to be carried much longer distance than the three metres of a passive copper cable.
Signal quality is no better than the minimum necessary, however.

Did you manage to resolve this? I'm currently having a similar issue, not sure if it's the sky puck or the 2.1 HDMI cable I have
