Volume on Sky Stream Remote not working

Volume not working on Stream remote. It has been working ok for weeks since we had it connected.  We recently lost the picture and Sky said they were having technical issues so we followed instructions to get picture back but we didn't get sound control on our remote. Tried everything recommended several times and gone through settings which is only the same instructions but nothing works. I even sent for a new remote.  We had volume control before technical issues so why haven't we got it now.  Thank you
