Using Stream within a Matrix HDMi switching system

Hi all have a HD Anywhere 8x8 matrix and currently runnign with virgin medai (tivo box as new 360 does not support ir on controls)

Thinking of swithing to sky either sky Q with extra box or Sky stream x 2 boxs

If i put the unit sin the garage where the cabnet is clearly bluetooth wont work from other rooms

can i use IR repeartes as i do now - virgin works perfectly

seeing too many conflcting responses on teh topic

pretty staight forward - ir eye out put from sky (either q or stream units) in cabinet and receiver in another rooms controlled by sky remote or universal remote

Please advise

Both Sky Q and Sky Stream remotes can output IR as well as Bluetooth, though I'm not sure whether they can do both simultaneously. If not, and the remote is set in IR mode, you lose the ability to use voice control.

The remotes can use BT over a fair distance so if your garage is integral, it's not impossible that they'll work in BT mode.

@biggm68 others have done as you propose. You can control a Q box by infra red commands using a blaster. As mentioned the only functionality you lose is voice control which requires the remote to use bluetooth.it maybe difficult programme the remote to control the TV /AV amp as that puts the remote into bluetooth mode but I guess you have other ways to do that.If your control sysyem can learn commands you can probably programme that to control the puck. I switched back to using bluetooth control myself as voice search s really useful

If you intend to use UHD all of the HDMI kit must support HDCP2.2 and you need cables that are rated as premium high speed as Stream outouts over 12Gb/s when streaming sport in UHD as Sky use 50fps unlike other streaming services which tend only to use 25 or 30fps and need a bit less bandwidth.
