User Accounts

why can't I set up individual users accounts on the Sky Puck just like every other streaming services like Netflix, Disney+, Amazon,Paramount etc where each user can watch items at their own leisure bookmarking where they are and going back where they left off. This is basic stuff. Anyone know how this done. Please don't tell me this can't be done. To me this makes the service unusable.

@Drooper1  Glass/Pucks don;'y have user accounts however you do have the option of setting up personalised playlists

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

Re: User Accounts

Thanks for your prompt reply. This seems a clunky convoluted workaround of a problem that every other streaming services has already solved. It does not fully resolve the problem. Why not just allow to setup individual users on the puck? It's only a software tweak. Why?

this is crazy

No one here can tell you why other than that is what Sky have decided for the streaming service.

@Drooper1  Obviously it is up to individual households and how they use/view Sky but personally I prefer doing this through playlists.   I find the BBC iPlayer really annoying when when every time I am asked which profile I want to use when there is only one available. Presumably I would have to select an option every time I turn on Sky if they introduced user profiles.

I currently have 5 playlists as follows:

1. Master containing everything

2. Programmes both my wife and I watch together

3. Programmes only I want to watch

4.Programmes only my wife wants to watch

5. Programmes that are finished but I want to keep an eye out for any new series.

This won't be for everyone but it works perfectly for me.

Profiles are ok

I too get annoyed that there isn't multi tracking for the same show - profile specific continue watching rails would be an added bonus

Playlists work fine. Unless you're a Sky programmer you can't say with any credibility that "it's only a software tweak".

@Jporch316 Wow, more than one CW rail that I can't delete from that's all I need 🤣😂

I didn't think the extra stress that would cause you when I suggested it !

btw have you noticed that any shows off U that you are watching are sometimes in the continue watching rail and sometimes not ?

I've recently watched the Chelsea detective and now watching bookish and if I stop mid episode they appear but after the end of an episode they are nowhere to be found ......

@Jporch316, Yes I have noticed it a little on both U and 4 where the next episode doesn't appear. The series 5 of Chateau DIY (Ch 4) does it so I watch the first couple of minutes of the next episode and it then appears on CW.  Bookish worked OK for me and I finished it yesterday.

One crucial difference would be 'every other streaming service' is fundamentally designed for individual app installations on multiple personal devices rather than household use of a handful of (shared) hardware boxes.
