Hello, I am new to sky stream (previous sky q)
I add a sky max or sky showcase programme to my playlist but when I try to watch it after it's been broadcast, sky says that I can't watch it unless I have sky cinema?
trying sky go - the message is that it can only be watched at broadcast time.
does anybody else have this problem? Sky stream was advertised as being able to watch all my favourites on demand - is this not true?
thanks in advance

Sky Stream doesn't record in the same sense as Sky Q. If a programme or movie is streamed live on Sky Max or Sky Showcase then there is no guarantee it will be available to stream later if you don't subscribe to Sky Cinema.

Re: Unable to watch programmes via playlist
You should assume that nothing will be "recordable" from Sky Showcase, as this channel is typically used to showcase simucast content from other Sky channels, sometimes the premium Sky Cinema and Sky Sports channels. Essentially if you don't have access to those premium channels you will need to watch live on Sky Showcase if you wish to view the content.

Re: Unable to watch programmes via playlist
I have this issue...I add content to my playlist from Film 4 but more often than not the source has changed to Sky Cinema or Sky Store and Disney...none that I subscribe to.
So basically unless it's Sky content you wish to add to your playlist it's pointless doing so...you won't be able to watch it.
One of the disadvantages of upgrading to Glass as not an issue with Q...you were recording the broadcast in real time.

It's not an upgrade from Sky Q to Sky Glass. They are completely different types of service. Each have their merits and each have their down sides.

Its a streaming platform so it will only work based on which streaming platform as the rights for a film/show. To get the best out of the Sky streaming platform you do really need to have access to a handful of different streaming services.

Re: Unable to watch programmes via playlist
Exactly...you have to subscribe to a number of media companies now...Sky, Netflix, Prime, Disney, Paramount, Apple etc for the full streaming experience...and unfortunately it's not cheap.
Sky Customer Service would not accept my initial complaint and repeatedly requested examples of where I had experienced the change of source content and closed my complaint without explanation.

Likely part of the reason that Netflix, Discovery + and Paramount + are included at no extra cost for specific Sky packages. If a person is going to subscribe to Sky anyway they don't have to pay for access to these other services separately.

Re: Unable to watch programmes via playlist
Agree...but you still have to subscribe to Sky Movies to get Paramount & Netflix...not sure about Disney & Apple but I accept the majority of Playlist issues would disappear by taking Sky Movies.

You don't need Sky movies to get Netflix, what Sky movies does give you is Paramount + included.
This is ultimately where the Tv industry is nowadays though, recordings to view whenever you want are a thing of the past and you are going to have to subscribe to streaming services to watch a lot of desired content. One option which works for some people is to subscribe to 1 or 2 services at a time, watch the content you want and then after a few months cancel and subscribe to another streaming services.

It's really not an upgrade. It's (Glass and Stream) an offering that allows people who want Sky but can't have dishes on their property for some reason to access Sky.
Different viewing options for differing customer needs. I myself got Glass because I couldn't have Q in my property. Though I like Glass, if you gave me an equal choice I would take Q every day of the week. Q is by far the best platform to view Sky on.
