UHD resets to HD overnight

I have Sky UHD channels.. I have receiver and UHD TV. HDMI goes via receiver. I set the picture resolution to 2160P and confirm as picture is available. I set the default streaming format to UHD (have tried auto) and it all works okay. I switch TV, receiver and puck off during day and have no issues.

However, Overnight the puck resets the picture resoltion to 1080p, so then I cannot access UHD TV without going through the UHD setting process again. Any ideas how to cure?

I have tried turning off overnight power saving and sleep timer, both have no effect.

There's clearly an issue with the speed of the HDMI handshake between your devices.

The Stream puck needs to detect that it's connected to a 4K capable display, even if through an AVR, otherwise it will default to HD. It's perhaps the case that you need to make sure your TV is fully powered on before the receiver and the puck are turned on.

Also, check that you are using the same spec and speed of HDMI cable between the receiver and the TV as you have between the puck and the receiver. Get a couple of certified HDMI 2.1 cables - they can be purchased on Amazon very cheaply.

You may be better off connecting the puck directly to the TV and using eARC or ARC to send the audio through the TV to the receiver.

@BenJoBanjo . I hear what you are say, however what I don't understand is that if I shut off TV, receiver and Puck and restart the issue does not happen. I only happens overnight. Both HDMI cable are certified high speed cables and the receiver is working as inputs as HDCP 2.3.

What I might do is connect the sky puck directly to the TV and see if the overnight issue still occurs.

Definitely worth trying that. The pucks probably do some sort of overnight reconnection to Sky's server for updates/playlist syncing etc. It's possible that it then tries to check on the HDMI handshake and if the receiver and TV are in a state of deep standby then it probably doesn't detect the TV properly, or the receiver isn't allowing passthrough whilst in standby.
