UHD Sky Steam F1 issues

Hi everyone just signed up to sky stream in May as sky Q was no longer available to buy online at the time of purchase and I've been having a few problems that are starting to make the experience of watching the F1 in UHD on sky stream very frustrating 

firstly I added the Australian Grand Prix to playlist with + icon as it was a 4am race and upon selecting the race to watch at around 7am instead of playing from the start it went to the live feed ruining the race result (probably user error but didn't give me a option to play from start etc)

secondly I've noticed when watching in UHD if I then press the home button the menu is very slow and unresponsive sometimes completely freezing the puck and it requires a reboot to fix the issue 

Thirdly, today I've just watched the Austrian Grand Prix from the start but paused the action to take a phone call after 10 mins on the call I pressed play but it refused to play and kept pausing again and in the end I had resume the live feed missing 10 mins of the race 

Just wanted to know if thse are ongoing issue with sky stream or just a random issue that I'm having ? I've spoken to the help team over live chat this afternoon and they said they are aware of the pausing issue told me to enable Netork Standby Mode but this was already selected to ON when checking and walked me through a reset process that included holding the power button upon turning the device back on did all this but the pausing/menu freezing issue was exactly the same

It's now been escalated to a higher team to get in touch within then next 72hrs but I'm not happy as compared to the previous experience as a sky Q customer a few years ago this service doesn't seem fit for purpose 

My internet connection is with Virgin media 1gb full fibre tried both Ethernet/wifi connection but both have exact same problem no issues with any other device in the home over the last 2 years of being with Virgin media 

Any information and experience of a similar issue and time frame of the issue is welcome before I speak to them as if this is the experience of sky stream then I will look to cancel the service

There have been issues for many people with F1 in UHD on Sky Stream since it launched nearly 5 years ago. 
There are plenty of people for whom it works flawlessly (allegedly) but many find it randomly glitchy, unpredictable and prone to the errors such as you describe. 
A lot depends on server congestion which you have no control over. 
Pausing, rewinding, fast forwarding and chase play when using 'watch from the start' tend to be somewhat fraught, even with rock solid broadband. It's normally fine if you just watch it and don't try to do anything with the remote.

Thanks for the information it really does help as I know that this isn't a isolated issue for my own experience and it will help me moving forward when I speak to advisor when they make contact

Best of luck. There have been lengthy threads regarding the stability of live UHD F1 and football over the years on Sky Stream so it's definitely not an isolated incident.

Yes I did see a few post while googling most of what I read related to Football in UHD and were from a few years ago, I wasn't sure if it was just a one off issue that had since been fixed or if it was a constant ongoing problem

The advisor informed me that they are aware of the UHD pausing/freezing issue and are working on a fix but if they haven't managed to implement this within 5 years I'm not hopeful it's going to be resolved

@Chris15allan Sky breakdown the broadcast into three sections or programs on the EPG.

The first program is the pre-race build up show. The World Feed for the race is the next bit, this kicks 5 minutes before lights out and continues until shortly after the podium ceremony and the final bit is the post race analysis.

If you've added F1 to your planner, it should give you access to all the programs on an individual basis.

Hi thanks for reply I'll have a look at that again for the next race as I've only tried the playlist option once for the Australian Grand Prix but unfortunately something went wrong and it just played the live feed and I've never tried again since

I've watched all the other races live in UHD and never had any buffering or playing issues but when trying to use basic features like pause I just assumed that they would work from the live feed would but clearly this isn't the case

It seems that the Sky Stream is flawed and has been since launch and it's frustrating as you would expect Sky would be providing a better product to replace Sky Q if that's the direction they are taking

Im having similar issues with pausing on all channels, if I press pause i either have to go to the live broadcast and watch from there or watch from start and fast foward, dont matter if its 1 second or 10 minutes between pause and play, just keeps pausing itself until i exit out of the channel, im also having an issue where it says the settings are not correct for UHD, I then go to picture settings, make no changes then UHD works fine, really odd.

The F1 on mine today was absolute nightmare to watch -

Clicking play from start on of the live race streams started the race about half way through, no matter what I tried.

Watching the "pre race" show actually contained the race, which abruptly then cut out on about lap 40

Then tried to watch the live race stream again which was only 39 minutes long. It eventually resolved itself after about 10 minutes.

Sky stream is just awful, I'm going to ring and complain tomorrow, I want Sky Q or off my contract. Its nothing but trouble, I barely use it anymore, just watch most stuff via my google streamer.

@bs6271 @Thanks for the input yes that's the exact same issue I'm having with the pausing too

I was walked through a reset of the box on live chat and tested it again this time only after waiting 3mins of pausing and it was the exactly the same for me unfortunately 

I can't understand how a simple function to pause the stream simply does not work

Thanks for the input, same issues as myself and and I think this might might be the direction I take as I didn't realise Sky Q is actually still available to purchase if you call when I purchased Sky Stream 

I only learned about this when starting to search for solutions to the issues I've faced with Sky Stream
