Re: Stop Sky TV Box turning off automatically
It pretty pointless when it dose it when you left the room to use the tolet and then you came back and the little puck has turned itself off again, it doing it every 3 hours now, I might get rid of Sky Stream when the contact end next, this is driving me up the wall, I fell like using the puck as a puck.. 🙂 its not doing my grief any good, it making me flip and making me fell worse (I need to hear sound in the flat otherwise I feel lonley and get a sinking feeling).. my partner died in Nov last year.
It needs a fix for it, they did fix it on Sky Q and that does not go off by itself now and do not care about EU rules before you say it, we are not part of the EU now so have different rules and a different market(UK CA so no CE no more) we are now independent.
Sky can stop it if they want to because they did it on Sky Q because its defeating the object ATM and [Removed]🙂

I was a PC Engineer and fix peoples PCs by going to there house, Windows XP was known to slow down PCs over time and clog up the PCs RAM and its start-up and had to reinstall it for the customer, the only way you could fix WinXP.

Re: Stop Sky TV Box turning off automatically
Hello there, pardon me, but It is stupid. As people are saying, the sky pucks are turning themselves off, just to please a minority of eco friendly people. If you're not in the room where the TV is, and you're just listening to the TV. How are you going to see the message. If Sky 'claim' they can't stop it, as they have to go along with the eco friendly, power saving nonsense. Why don't they play a sound to alert people of this farcical turn off, then people know to go and shake the remote. 🙂

Re: Stop Sky TV Box turning off automatically
Just to clarify. Sky Stream puck.
I have sleep turned off in settings. If watching a Sky channel which has been paused the box turns off after a few minutes unless the remote is picked up.
NB This is definitely a issue with the Sky app. It does not happen if YouTube (not tested but I believe other apps such as Netflix, Discovery, BBC iPlayer etc. as well) is paused.
Statements regarding power saving requirements mandated by EU rules are therefore contradictory.

I suspect its part to Sky being unable to determine what operations are happening when a third party app is open on the puck. For example if you pause live TV the Sky OS will be able to determine your usage is idle, if you have a third party app open I very much doubt the third party app allows the level of access to Sky OS which would allow the OS to determin whether you are actively watching something in that third party app or you have it paused/or left on the app's home page.
Therefore not necessarily contradicting any local/regional laws that the pucks operate in.

Re: Stop Sky TV Box turning off automatically
I have heard of home workers who are monitored for keyboard activity having a vibrating pad to put the mouse on and folol the system.
Would this work for the remote?

Re: Stop Sky TV Box turning off automatically
Yes that would work if it vibrates hard enough for Sky Stream see the remote moving, you could stick the remove on to the mouse cable, and every time you move your mouse on the PC it moves the remote, that's if you use you PC everyday like me and use a normal mouse.
I have to have sound in the house continuously so have Sky Stream on all day so if it goes off I put back on anyways and it don't save any energy anyways, I just find it annoying.

Re: Stop Sky TV Box turning off automatically
The crazy thing is... If I pause the TV to answer the door takes less than 2 minutes or make a tea which literly takes 3 to 4 minutes .. by time I've done that and then come back it's already switched it's self off
It must literally give you 60 seconds
