Split to 2 TVs in 4k
Hi. I've just plugged stream into a HDMI splitter to show the same thing on 2 TVs. It works fine in 1080p but won't even attempt to show in 4k. Both TVs are 4k and the splitter reckons it is. Stream says it can't find a UHD device but then says you can continue anyway, I press continue and nothing happens. Any ideas?

Are the HDMI cables also suitable for UHD?

Yes, I tested them all on my main Q box in 4k years ago before installing them in other room. The puck won't even try and do 4k.

Re: Split to 2 TVs in 4k
The splitter has to be capable of 4K at 60Hz and HDCP2.2

It says it does on the Amazon advert now, but mine is 8 years old, maybe it didn't back then.

Re: Split to 2 TVs in 4k
Presume it must do hdcp or it wouldn't work in HD even, used it for years on Q mini too.

Re: Split to 2 TVs in 4k
The HDCP standards for HD (1.1 to 1.4) are older and much lower than those for UHD (2.2 and 2.3)
In addition, some 'UHD' hardware is rated for 4K at 30Hz but not the 4K at 60Hz required for Sky UHD.

@Dallybally I dont have a solution for you and this is somewhat off topic but your setup sounds interesting. Why do you have the same image on two screens at the same time?

It says 2.2 and 60hz but again in the most recent Amazon listing for the same device. It could've changed in the last 8 years. I'll try it direct without splitter and see what happens, then try a new splitter. Thanks a lot.

We've got a big L shaped room with 2 living areas at each end, made sense to have the same thing at same time on both.

People often do it if they've got 2 rooms that back onto each other so they can share a signal. Or they used to, perhaps not that relevant now you can just get another puck for £39 etc. although if you could avoid paying the multi room subscription it would make sense.
