Slow speed test on sky puck

Hi, when streaming it is buffering every 10 to 30 seconds, I have done a speed test using the Netflix app on the sky puck, result was 0.748Mbps, I  done the same test using the Netflix app on smart TV that the puck is connected to so should have the same WiFi speed and signal strength,  the result was 60.16Mbps.

The settings on the puck say signal strength is good, also done speed test on my phone which is 74Mbps.

Is there a fault with the puck?

Have uploaded pickture of both Netflix speed tests.

Thank in advance.

Hi @Skanks

You don't say what your ISP is or what the kit is. It could be a puck issue but some things to check: ensure that your puck isn't in an enclosed area, or close to other electronics (i.e. is it in an enclosed TV unit on top of something else?) if so try readjusting it.

Do you have multiple bands on your router? Is it connected to a 2.4Ghz band but the TV is on a 5Ghz ban for example? Does it work sometimes. (E.g if you reboot your puck) But then stop? If so this could be a band steering issue on the router.

If you are confident it's not any of the above, call sky and ask for a replacement. Or connect via ethernet if possible and disable WiFi in settings.

Re: Slow speed test on sky puck

Hi, I'm on sky fibre,  when I  look at the connections on the hub the puck is listed as unknown and it has 5GHz next to it.

The puck is on a cube unit infront of the TV with nothing around it to interfere and no electronics other than the TV nearby.

The speed test I did was straight after rebooting it, rebooting doesn't work.

Hi @Skanks

I'd definitely be asking sky to swap out your puck then.

Hi @Skanks Have you tried rebooting your Broadband router as well?  If not try turning unplugging both the puck and router for a couple of minutes.  Then plug the router back in and after it has finished rebooting plug the puck back and which will take a couple of minutes to reboot during which time you will have a blank screen until the Sky logo appears.

I'm not certain if it will fix it but it's worth a try before asking for a replacement puck.

Good luck 🤞
