At present we have sky Q with two mini boxes one of which is in my mother in law's room, she is 99 years old and she is very shaky, and not very dexterous and as I'm sure we will all be at this age. So the mini box in her room is set up on favorites for 6 channels, all numbered from 1 to 6 to keep things easy for her, as pressing 3 numbers consecutively comes very difficult to her ie 101. To achieve this when the tv is turned off the mini box is set not to go into standby but stay on all the time, this means when the tv is turned back on she is still on the favorites page. My question is could this be done on sky stream?
If you are wondering why don't you just stay with sky Q we have a regular problem when we go to watch a program through a app on the main sky box it tells us that we need to turn our box off and then turn it back on which always works but is difficult if mother is part way through one of her programs.

It sounds more like the problem lies with your main Sky Q box. If it's requesting that you reboot the box every time you try to use an app on it then you would probably be much better off getting the box replaced. That way you can stick with Sky Q (Sky Stream is very different to Q in operation) and your mother in law will be able to carry on with the system she knows.

What happens is that if the remote control hasn't been picked up for a couple of hours the box will turn off, and you can't change this as it's part of EU regulations that the UK also adopted.
with regards to the channel numbers, you can do that with Stream you just need to add the channels as favourites and you can reorder your favourites so essentially decide what channel takes each number between 1 and 100.

So i guess after the box turns itself off, when you turn it back on it will go to home page and not to favorites where it was left after the tv was turn off.

That's correct, it will always default to the Home Screen on startup, so you would need to actively go back to the live channels or do a voice search for say "channel 1" for it to go back to that channel.

Thanks for your help and ideas, as for staying with Sky Q, the problem with having to turn off and on the box when going to apps does not happen every time about 6ish times a week, still enough to be annoying if she is in the middle of Emerdale etc. since the new year had two replacement boxes and two engineer visits. I am told there is no more to be done. Don't know if the boxes were new or not not even sure that they are still manufactured.
