Sky puck is just extremely bad

I know I'm shouting into the ether here as Sky doesn't listen to its customers. I have  Sky stream and an Amazon fire stick. The firestick is far superior for streaming Netflix, iPlayer, Apple+ etc. The Sky puck constantly freezes even though we have 100mb broadband.

It even freezes when showing Sky's own shows. Although curiously it streams the adverts every time. The advert runs, then the screen blanks.

Bad design, bad user experience, bad customer service.

As soon as the contract expires we'll go back to Virgin. I guess the high price was for the good service and you get what you pay for.

Never again.

@Irenicon I am guessing you have virgin media broadband ? If so, VM has poor latency and high ping rates that doesn't play well with Sky Stream.

Sky is much better than Virgin media in every aspect. I have both

LG C2 OLED 55inch
Sonos Playbar
Virgin 1 Gig
Virgin Stream Box
Xbox X
Apple TV 4K
Amazon 4K Firestick Roku 4K Google Chromecast

Sky broadband is a Openreach based product, so can very depending on what Openreach provide to your home.

Take a look at the OFCOM website to assess the complaints made about sky broadband v virgin media.

Re: Sky puck is just extremely bad

I'm pretty sure I never had half the issues when it was through the satellite. The Puck is notchy in performance, really lazy user experience with loads of drop outs in signal.

Re: Sky puck is just extremely bad

I Found this the worst thing I have ever had from any provider. I can use all the apps on my tmTV and channels on my TV but the SKy Xuck. Freezes all the time fails to load or simple stutters. But on the TV built in apps etc all work fine. SKY I WILL NEVER RENEW WITH YOU AGAIN. YOUR USELESS. what a waste of my money. I am seeing now if there is any way I can leave now but I doubt you would let me or anyone else.

Do you have the puck connected to the internet via WiFi? All those symptoms are a sign of instability with the WiFi signal the puck is receiving and due to the way the platform works even small WIfi instabilities will lead to these sorts of issues.

I'd suggest disabling the WiFi in the pucks settings, plugging in an Ethernet cable instead and then rebooting the puck and see if this helps at all.

I feel like if it doesn't work how it's designed to and it can't be fixed that's breach of contract.

@Listen2me

Which is why Sky appears to be permitting users to exit their contract early without penalty if they are persistent with fault reports.
