Hi all. Just set up my sky puck, I find only STV player at moment buffers to the point it's unwatchable. Both through Wi-Fi and Ethernet cable, tried app refresh but still the same, the TV relight next to it has no problem.
other apps seem to be fine but not really watched much TV since I set it up.
any suggestions
thanks.

What broadband speed is reaching the puck? Open the Netflix app on it and navigate to the Get Help menu then run a Network test.

Fair comment @SlenderRobert some devices can run at lower speeds without any buffering/issues
LG TV via Netflix app 46.53Mbps
FireTv Stick via Netflix app 33.40Mbps
Sky Stream via Netflix app 65.43Mbps
All connected wirelessly and some distance from the Sky Router which is located at the back of the house (Sky Ultrafast Fibre Broadband)

Thank you I will do
i did a speed test and I am getting 70mbs but never tried it on the puck

The most crucial thing is the speed that's actually reaching the puck. They're very sensitive to speed fluctuations so a fast and stable connection is crucial to get them functional.

The problem (I believe) is the lack of processor speed in the puck, coupled with the apps being server based and not actually stored on the box itself. The latency it creates seems to cause more issues than it should.

I agree.
I would hope that Comcast/Sky are regretting releasing such a cheap, underpowered, product like the Stream Puck onto the market. Most of the problems, I suspect, could have be avoided with the use of a faster processor and some form of better storage to prevent buffering. (But maybe that doesn't concern them as they count their profits?)
The issues voiced on this forum will just be the tip of the iceberg. People say that the forum is populated by users who have these issues and that there are many others who are not having these faults and are perfectly happy with the product. I disagree. There will be many other users experiencing problems that would never think of airing them on here. I cannot imagine that there are ANY users of the Puck or the Glass who haven't experienced at least some of these well documented faults.
Having said that, if the puck were to do its job as designed, it would suit my needs perfectly and be superior to the Apple TV box which I have tried extensively and just doesn't cut it for my purposes.
One can only hope that better hardware may follow.

yeah I understand this.
we just use the TV installed apps as they are better and don't suffer this lag. Just the sky catch-up apps for the puck which so far we haven't noticed any issues with

Mine work OK for the limited use they get, but then I'm feeding them 500Mbs FTTP over a switched ethernet distribution in one case and from a BT Whole Home disk (itself on the end of an ethernet run) in the other: I can certainly appreciate they probably aren't robust enough for many 'normal' households not inhabited by someone who does networks for a living...

Similar to mine - it's fed by 500Mbps FTTP direct from the router and it's certainly functional, just very slow at doing most things. It's rarely used because of this. I turned it on this morning for the first time in a couple of days and it promptly froze whilst navigating down on the home page. A reboot got it back up and running, but it still amazes me how when selecting something on the Ch4 app for example, it can take up to 15 or 20 seconds for the stream to work its way from sub-SD pixel mush, up to HD resolution.
Ad skipping on the same app is similarly irritating. Having to hold down the right hand button for about 10 seconds to skip through the ads is so disrupting to the viewing experience.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@TimmyBGood There seems to be a very definite correlation between having no problems and having a fast network.
I too have 500mbps with between 450 -475mbps reaching my Glass TV and this is on wi-fi not Ethernet. The only time I have experienced freezing or stuttering was a few days ago when my network had a problem and the wi-fi signal slowed to a crawl (ISP related & now fixed).
That's not to say the software can't be very suspect at times.

Just tested my speed on Netflix and it's sitting at 73.41 mbs
which I take it is very good,
also tonight no issues at all. Performed well

That's more than adequate. Nothing on Glass or Stream needs more than about 35Mbps at the absolute most.
