Re: Sly Stream - unable to stop pause
I took my sanity in my hands again today and contacted Sky - this time on chat. After the initial "have you tried restarting" I suggested that the agent actually looked at my account. After a while they confirmed "We are currently experiencing a widespread technical fault that is causing issues in live channels for many of our customers this morning" which is of course not an accurate picture (pun intended).
I pushed for some compensation for the 2 hours on the phone, telling them about a problem that they denied, After pushing back 3 times I got an offer - "To deeply thank you for your magnificent grace and to show you how much we truly value you, I am authorized to apply a £5 credit directly to your Sky account today". £5. Now doubled to £10 since I told them that was an insult.
Where has Sky's customer service gone? And for that matter, their technical support...

Re: Sly Stream - unable to stop pause
As I mentioned on here yesterday.
After some of your more recent updates and previous details on this thread, I this morning flagged this ongoing issue thread for some of you to Sky in our closed community area.
All the data within the thread has been gathered and passed on for further investigation.

Re: Sly Stream - unable to stop pause
Hi lettice.
Thanks for your update.
Just wanted to check if you had also passed on the issue with glitches on the puck? This has been mentioned by other subscribers on this thread - https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky-Stream/Sky-puck-glitching/m-p/5311364#M78428
Thanks.

Re: Sly Stream - unable to stop pause
Yes.. same here... I'm 18 months in to Stream, and it has been an absolute shocker. I have three pucks (all v1) and they all have the same faults. British GP was ruined for me when I paused to go to the bathroom and then couldn't get the pause to cancel. Tried 32x speed forward from the start to get back to where I was... it just freezes. It's just so so frustrating. Nearly took a hammer to the puck!
Feels like I'm a beta tester and paying for the privelege. Glitching Sky Sports 4k football was just awful although it did improve a bit towards the end of this season. 'Experiencing Technical Issues' pop-up probably half a dozen times a day. My morning routine for that last 12 months has been to physically unplug each puck from the mains and restart to give me the best chance. All this btw on a 900/900mb service with a professionally installed router with multiple hard-wired APs on each floor of the house, each on a different channel... no interference. I'm getting 350+ over wifi using the Netflix wifi checker (yes, I've tried using the network cable back to the AP - it's worse at about 90mb, attributable of course to the 100mb network socket on the puck - either way doesn't get rid of the issues). Tried conversing with technical support once about it all.... I knew it was a bad idea.... took forever, no solution reached. I never expected them to be able to resolve anything tbh... there's literally nothing they can do, other than replace with v2 pucks... which they won't and which I'm not sure will make any real difference anyway. We need new hardware with a faster processer and more ram. It's not a wi-fi issue. Even with their penny pinching decision not to put a gigabit network socket on the puck, 100mb is far far more than enough for 4k on 3 simultaneous streams. No.... this is all down to underpowered hardware, and probably software having to run so lean that it's flakey as...
No issues with wifi on another platform other than Sky Stream. I want to invite people over tomorrow to watch the semi-final, but I have no faith in Sky Stream. Will watch it via iTVX or iPlayer via wifi using the relevant app on my smart TV. Oh... and it'll be in 4K. As soon as my contract is up, I'm off.
Phewww.... feels good to get that off my chest!

Re: Sly Stream - unable to stop pause
We already have the 'stuttering' issue and now today we have the pause/restart problem. I've had enough. I don't know what they have done but Sky have messed up big time and are taking their sweet time to resolve it. It's just not good enough.
