Sky Stream on a 2nd account

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone from the sky team pick this up, as there is a massive process gap and after being through around 10 agents and 3hrs and 40 minuets with Sky over the past 24 hours its still no further forward and frankly quite sky, people are holding out thier cash and asking you to take it and your saying no!

We have a Sky Q account; quite happy dont want to touch that! end of story there!

We have a caravan at the coast, we CANNOT accept a deleivery, We CANNOT have a sky dish; after reading www.sky.com/help/articles/buying-sky-glass-second-hand we assumed that we could purchase a second hand stream puck, give sky a call and have a second account set up, no need for deleivery, no need for a dish; it could be trialled for 31 days on the standard rolling month sky potentially get a new customer, we as a family can watch sky at our holiday home everyone is happy.

Quote from sky:

Your options
Get a Streaming TV subscription

If you bought your Sky Glass or Sky Stream equipment from somewhere else, to get a Streaming TV subscription, you’ll need to get in touch with us.

When you contact us, make sure you’re near your Sky Glass TV or Sky Stream puck and that it’s plugged into the mains, as we’ll need you to give us an activation code to complete your order.

I indeed have this ACTIVATION CODE, I have my credit card, I have 260Mb internet - I DONT have sky!

Im at a loss, and hoping that sky pick this up and will do something about it, I abandoned after 10 agents and 3hr 40 mins on hold, so if anyone from sky wants to make contact, take my activation code and the 16 digits of my card and start a subscription, I would be more than willing to chat to them!

Cheers!

Re: Sky Stream on a 2nd account

Thanks everyone for the replies: UPDATE SORTED BY SKY CUSTOMER SERVICE

after persevering, and some updating.... this CAN BE DONE, it has been done and now happily have SkyQ at home and Sky Stream in my caravan, ownership of the purchased box from eBay has been transferred to me (Confirmed in the sky account section under devices)

even negotiated a reduce price for the inconvenience.

just to help anyone out in my situation.

1. explain clearly it's for your 2nd/holiday home

2. you don't need a registered UPRN (unique property reference number) as used by O.S AND G.i.S; customer care will take your site/location and make a record for you.

3. if delivery is a problem like ours there IS a process for customer acquired pucks and glass, this has been confirmed in a message on X to me (Formally Twitter)

sometimes super users and forums are great and sometimes you just need to speak to the right person, I guess mine was a bit of both.

@Stockdp1  No sky employees will be be able to help you here

you won't be able to have a second subscription whilst keeping Q ,sky's systems are automated and can't be overridden

@Stockdp1  Unless the caravan has a fully identifiable Postal address as per Royal Mails address data base then I'm afraid you won't be able to setup an account for the caravan, it would also be a seperate subscription to your home address, so you'd need to pay for 2 subs.  One at your main residence (Sky Q) and one at the caravan (Sky stream)

As per @SKY1992bf  Sky won't pick this up from a forum post, no one would possibly know who you are or even your details.

Is there a reason why you can't use Sky Go at the caravan?

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

Re: Sky Stream on a 2nd account

Thanks for the answer; @GD1 & @SKY1992bf.

It's not that I want them to pick this up "Personally" however as a process. I am not asking for a personal response 🙂

I am asking to pay for 2 subscriptions, i'm fully aware and happy to pay for 2 subscriptions as well 🙂

Sky go is not an option, neither do I want to use a computer/tablet/console based solution, We want to watch as we would at home on our TV (and yes I know there are "Ways" to plug in this and that, but I want to do it the correct way)

Having spoken to Sky at length, the one thing that they can do is set up a second account; they have made this clear ,they don’t need a royal mail address (or if they do none of the agents made this definition) and they were all happy to dispatch a new puck to our caravan, however we cannot receive a delivery. the only definition they make is that it has to be "to the service address"

all the agents I have spoken too have said, 2 accounts no problem; this is something that they come across frequently with shared housed and HMO's; however if a customer wishes or has (in my case from ebay) bought an 2nd hand box (rightly or wrongly Re: Ownership and leasing etc) there is an issue "activating" it on a new account.

Cheers for the replys 🙂

@Stockdp1

If the caravan doesn't have an address then it cannot have an account located there, and Sky will not permit a Stream account at your house address because that location is associated with Q.  You are working against their system, no matter how eager you are to hand over payment.

Re: Sky Stream on a 2nd account

@Stockdp1 What exactly do you want?

If you just want access to Sky subscription channels try NOW TV.

All you'll need  is a Roku which will also have all the Streaming apps you could ever want!

Re: Sky Stream on a 2nd account

It's been a few days so maybe you sorted it out - but if not here's what i did recently when i wanted to swap from a 31 day rolling plan to a much better proposition on 18m (£19 Sky TV and £20 sport) and Sky would not honour it for me on existing plan.

Go online in a private browser and visit the sky website (so it doesn't log in as your current account / see cookies etc). Order the Sky stream service you want (at the moment there's no fee for the Puck on 31 days plan, you just wont own the extra one they send you) for your details use a different email address to your current My Sky and amend your postal address slightly (ie number 1A instead of 1) it should then (if all goes well like mine did in July) place an order, send a puck next day and create a new sky account. You can then follow the steps on the Puck you already have to activate it on the new account straight away and you're up and running. When the ordered box arrives just keep it as a spare / to send back to sky if cancelling.

This exact process worked for me in July so hopefully it will still work for you. (also it's why I'm now AntInBristol2!) Also anyone moving from 31day to 18m this way don't forget to cancel your old plan!

I'm a Sky Q customer but bought a refurbished Sky Glass set off eBay but cannot activate it to use the smart features (don't want the sky package, just the smart Apps), so was thinking of doing something similar to this so I have a second account with a streaming package that I can use to activate the Glass, and then cancel the subscription.

Annoyed that I missed the Sky Stream 1 month free trial that recently ended, hoping they do that again soon so it doesn't cost me anything!
