Frequent issues when switching apps, My5 to Channel 4 or vice versa, apps just hang or return to home page when selecting a program to watch. The same haoppens switching from Channel 4 to ITVX, we select a tv show and it just jumps back to apps ribbon on home page.
All these issues are cleared for a short period of time (30-60 mins) after restarting the puck. This is not an acceptable solution!
Puck is connected via ethernet and broadband speed is 56-69Mbps.

See if it is any better if you "exit the apps" when you are finished watching a show. Instead of pressing the home button to leave the app, once on the apps home page, press the back button on the remote and it should then cleanly exit the app, or in the case of Netflix or BBC IPlayer bring up a prompt or side bar with the option for you to exit.

The "backup" button does not work for ITVX app.

Your not alone on this @byebyebsky the back up button does not work for me either on the ITVX app. I have reported this to Sky but as of yet am still waiting for a fix.

On the plus side, a lot of ITVX add breaks are just a black screen with no sound - I guess there's good bugs and bad bugs!

I just tested ITVX app on my smart TV and it works without the issues experienced on Sky stream.

Was using earlier in the evening and just tried again now.
That is picking something from the playlist or from launching the app directly and playing something.

I've had the issue a few weeks now but the problem is, it's not a wide spread issue so who knows when it may get fixed, especially if not many people experience it.

Personally I've noticed that "back button" issue on ITV X but it seems to only occur for me at the end of a show when it starts to bring up the preview and countdown clock for whatever it wants to load up next (which sometimes is a unrelated show if no more episodes of what you were watching are available).
