I switched to Sky Stream from Sky Q in January this year (2024), & without question it is the worst technical decision I have ever made. It is absolutely awful there is not a week that goes by where there is some kind of fault with it, whether it does not load programmes in my playlist & keeps telling me to 'wait whilst my programme loads' or telling me that 'there is a technical fault with this programme' & then there is UHD Sky Sports absolutely ridiculous every Super Sunday the UHD football matches freeze & pixulate three or four times at least every match & I end up watching it in just HD..... what am I paying my extra money for?? I have no iss with UHD or HDR with movies or TNT Sport so it is NOT my internet connection before anyone says anything it is a Sky Sport issue on Stream. I am continuously rebooting the puck & sometimes reseting to factory settings which is a nightmare because then I have to re-login all my apps 😡😡
It truly is awful I do not recommend Sky Stream to anyone especially if you have a short fuse. Safe to say I will NOT be renewing my contract with Sky. If stream doesn't work properly I am definitely NOT going to risk glass 😡

If it's really not functioning as advertised for you then you need to contact Sky and follow their advice and troubleshooting.
If, after trying all avenues, you still cannot get a decent enough service then Sky may allow you to exit your contract early. They have done this for various people on this forum in the past.
Sky Stream can work well for some people, but not for others. There are many variables, usually network speed & quality related, which can affect how well it will work.

Was there a reason you downgraded from Sky Q ?

@Sean710 hi, I've had stream since launch and can honestly say other than the remote issue ( basically stopping working ) and the current issue with Dolby digital sound drops out ( which i don't actually think is a sky centric issue imo ) I've found stream to be great.
The problems you list do sound like you have a faulty puck, i would absolutely be on phone to CC to get fixed or replaced.
...off topic and regards the whole upgrade / downgrade suggestion , this is so subjective , for me was a definite upgrade

We are in exactly the same situation. I have the feeling that unless you have fibre broadband it simply doesn't work. Having said that, I have a friend 4 miles away who has BT broadband, (not fibre), and Sky glass. He has no issues at all. So it may be linked to the poor routers that Sky supply. Whatever the cause, we will be down grading back to Sky Q at the end of this month, since we cannot get fibre broadband where we live.

The routers Sky supply are actually pretty good. I had Sky Superfast for several years before getting fibre and it was pretty much flawless. I got a steady 60-70Mbps which was more than enough for Sky Stream to function. I switched to a full fibre network with a different router and it didn't change anything about the functionality of the puck.
Many issues are caused by fluctuations in either speed or quality of the connection. This can be down to the cabling in your home, wall thickness, interference, etc. None of which Sky have any control over.
There are also variances in puck quality of course - it's a mass produced device so some poor ones slip through the net. You also have no control over which Sky server you are connected to. Some servers may be better than others, less congested perhaps, but we have no way of knowing as Sky keep the intricacies of how their streaming platform works to themselves.
Overall, if you can't provide a very solid and stable broadband network then it's pointless having Sky Stream.
But don't see going to Sky Q as a downgrade - it's just a different service which actually has many advantages over Sky Stream.
