Sky Stream Remote Connect To Sony Bravia 8 ii

Hi, just got a new Sony Bravia 8 I but can't get the Sky Stream remote to connect and work the television on/off and volume meaning I need to use two remotes rather than just the Sky Stream remote.  Tried the normal methods of connection.  Anyone else experience this, any ideas on fixes.  It's a highly recommended new TV so think others must have the same setup.
